Rainforest Herbs Improve Memory, Support Brain Functions

Rainforest Herbs Improve Memory, Support Brain Functions

Doing well in our fast-paced world requires lots of brain power, good memory, and fast response time. We know good diet, fresh air, exercise and rest are essential. We also know that doesnt always happen. As we grow older, many of us seek ways to keep our brains fresh and our energy strong.

Yet all too often we overlook the basics of long-term health in our search for a quick boost. The popularity of caffeine and sugar-laden drinks, and shelves full of drugs and pharmaceutical products attest to this. Heres the good news.

Herbs that are Neuroprotective, Cell Protective

You can find enormously protective and effective brain support in natures own medicine cabinet -- the rainforest. The rainforest herbs in Elephant Elixir are especially effective in protecting brain cells, improving memory, and combating the effects of aging.

Herbs that are Anti-aging

What makes these herbs anti-aging? If you protect brain cells from breaking down and aging, you protect the body as well. This in turn improves memory and supports the immune system to help the body from falling ill. These specialized cell protective qualities keep our minds sharper and help our bodies retain a youthful elasticity.

The Amazon Rainforest Herbs of Elephant Elixir

Samambaia (Polypodium decumanum): Many types of ferns are found in traditional medicine around the world and most share similarities. Samambaia is typical in that as a medicinal fern it is valued as a tonic, blood cleanser (to detoxify the body), upper respiratory healer and immune system support. It is also used in treating psoriasis. Unique to samambaia and the reason it is the main ingredient in Elephant Elixir, is its ability to protect brain cells. In 1997, a U.S. patent was filed on a samambaia leaf and rhizome extract capable of treating brain disorders such as Alzheimers disease and dementia. The patent and several in vivo studies found samambaia protects against brain cell degeneration, promotes repair of damaged brain cells, and has a protective effect on brain cells. Anapsos (brand name) is used now in Europe for the treatment of Alzheimers and dementia.

Cats Claw (Uncaria tomentosa): Ua de gato, literally cats claw, refers to the large claw-like thorns along this large woody vine. Ua de gato has been used medicinally for at least 2,000 years and is prized among herbal remedies. Since the 1970s cats claw has been researched in almost every industrialized country. These studies validate many of the traditional uses and offer hope in treating ailments common to N. Americans. Some of them include chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, lupus, inflammatory conditions, cancer, and intestinal disorders. One reason it is so adaptable is that it is one of a handful of plants that are "adaptogenic," -- in some unknown way these plants are able to restore the normal functions of an organ or a system. Cats claw is added to Elephant Elixir because of its cell protective qualities. It also adds a deeply supportive organ tonic and immune support.

The Benefits of Drinking Water for Your Body

On a hot summer day, or after an intense workout, what do you think is the most refreshing thing to do? Drinking a large glass of ice cold water would be my answer. Doing this is so refreshing, and is such a simple way to immediately feel the healthful benefits of drinking water. As well as there being nothing more refreshing than this, it is also surprisingly healthy for your body. It seems that you can not read a health article or anything today that is not promoting getting your 8 glasses a day.

With our bodies being comprised of over 70% water, and water playing a part by controlling virtually every aspect of our health, it is easy to see how there are many benefits of drinking water. The importance of drinking water seeps into every aspect of our health. As well as keeping us hydrated, water is the foundation for our body.

Some interesting statistics to keep in mind when thinking about the many benefits of drinking water and staying properly hydrated is that, like mentioned above, overall our bodies are more than 70% water. Our blood is made of more than 80% water, the brain over 75%, and even more amazing is that the liver is about 96% water.

Another part of the body that is greatly impacted by water is our nervous system. Our nerves are really like an elaborate system of tiny waterways in our bodies. The function of these waterways is seriously impaired if not fully hydrated. This is only one of the many benefits of drinking water.

One area where the importance of drinking water is essential is for our energy levels. Just a 5% decrease in body fluids will cause a 25-30% loss of energy for the normal person. Water is what the liver uses to metabolize fat into energy (hence why it is made of almost 100% water). Amazingly enough, if you lose 15% of body fluids, you are looking death in the eye.

Other benefits of drinking water include enhanced digestion and nutrient absorption, skin hydration and detoxification of the impurities in our systems.

You know that time period after lunch where you are sluggish and barely able to function? Normally we would assume that this is from our lunch settling in, but perhaps another explanation is that you are not properly hydrated from the time when you woke up, and it is just now catching up to you. When you begin to feel this lull, consider gulping down a few glasses of water and more than likely you will be feeling better in a matter of minutes.

As you can probably now see, the importance of drinking water for our health and bodies is of the utmost concern. The benefits of drinking water are numerous and as well as ensuring that you are staying healthy, you will make yourself feel better immediately after having a refreshing glass of water.

What is a Trading Method?

Author:佚名 Source:none Hits:37 UpdateTime:2008-10-18 23:54:33

Trading Method Definition:

A trading method could be defined as a procedure used for investment purposes that will help you be successful while trading stocks, options, forex, futures, ETFs, and other investment markets.

Basically, a trading method will give you the skills and tools you need to invest your money in such a way that you will be profitable and increase the value of your portfolio.

What Makes A Trading Method Good?

A Trading Method must contain several things in order for it to be successful. While it is always up to you, the investor or trader, to find or make a trading method that works for you, there are some basic things that all trading methods should have:

Teaches You How To Identify A Trading Opportunity

If a trading method doesn't show you in detail how to identify WHEN to trade, then you are left to your own devices to try and guess when to get into the market. A Trading Method must show you exactly how to identify potential trading opportunities so you can concentrate on other things and not have to worry about how to figure out when you should enter a trade.

Teaches You How To Avoid "False" Opportunities

Some methods will teach you a lot of ways to get into a trade, but the good trading methods will also show you how to stay OUT of a trade when you should. Trading Methods should contain information and rules that show you how to identify false trading opportunities so you don't get caught in a trade in the wrong direction. Many times indicators can resemble a good trade opportunity, but if you look carefully, there will often be false signals that should flag it as a trade you shouldn't get into.

Teaches You When To Get Into The Market

A good trading method will give you step by step rules on exactly WHEN you should enter the market. If the method doesn't explain when to get in, you could get in too early (and possibly lose money in a false trade signal), or you could get in too late (which means you will reduce or eliminate your profit potential). Always make sure a trading method you research will include rules on when to get into the market for maximum profit potential.

Teaches You When To Exit The Market

I feel this is the most important requirement of them all. Very few trading methods give detailed information about when to get out of the trade. Many of the market analysts you see on TV or even your own broker might tell you to buy a stock, and hold on to it for dear life as long as possible. That may have been true 20 or 30 years ago, but in today's market, that mindset will almost always lose a lot of money for you. So look for a trading method that will tell you exactly when you should get out of the trade, which will help you protect your profits and minimize your loses, as well as reduce your risk.

Teaches You How To Minimize Your Risk

This is probably the #2 most important thing. We as stock traders will have losses. We will enter into risky trades. Some of them will go against us. That is the fact of life in the markets. Accept it. But MINIMIZE it. A good trading method will have rules and information on how to minimize your risk in a trade, in order to protect your money. Yes, we will always have bad trades and lose money. But minimizing the risk in our trades will reduce those losses, which means overall we will be more profitable and successful when trading.

Summary

When researching Trading Methods, you must always make sure that the trading method contains those 5 requirements as a bare minimum. If the Trading Method does not have those things, then the chances are very good that the trading method will NOT work, and will wind up hurting your overall portfolio rather than helping it. And as always, be wary of any trading method that promises you success, or says that you won't ever lose money, or guarantees a profit percentage or amount. There are no Holy Grails in trading. You will win some, and you will lose some. The key is to find a trading method that works for you that maximizes your profits and minimizes your losses.

Marriage problems: Are power struggles destroying your relationship?

Author:佚名 Source:none Hits:37 UpdateTime:2008-10-18 23:25:38

In the past you were single

and you could make decisions without having to check in with anyone.

Your favorite color was red and you liked small, fast cars (as in Cherry Red Sports Car, beloved even though you wrenched your back getting in and out);

The one bedroom apartment felt "cozy" and "just right," so you signed the longest lease you could get;

You decided to get a tattoo a few Margaritas later, "I love Hank" was scrawled across your shoulder. (Unfortunately, you don't know any Hanks.)

Then "you" became a "we"

when you fell head over heels in love and made a commitment to another person (and a commitment to the relationship). And suddenly the two-seater is inadequate because it can't hold groceries; the apartment is woefully too small for the visiting in-laws; and your significant other gives you a gift certificate for the newest boutique in town: "Tats: You Get 'Em, We Strip 'Em."

You probably wouldn't argue with the fact that certain responsibilities come with being part of an intimate, committed relationship (you now exist as part of an "us," in addition to being a "me"). You could even make the argument that these responsibilities are part of what make being in love so rewarding.

One such responsibility includes consulting with your partner whenever you're faced with an important decision. The thinking here is that big decisions impact both of you, so it only makes sense to ask about your partner's opinions and feelings regarding any potentially important decision.

Major problems can arise when

you equate consulting with your partner with a loss of freedom and control in your life. Relationship problems arise when you fail to learn the give-and-take two-step, the relationship dance all couples must become skilled at in order to create a harmonious relationship.

Here's the basic premise of the give-and-take two-step (don't worry if you have two left feet, it's pretty simple, at least on paper):

Step 1: You give to your partner by acknowledging and meeting her/his wishes and needs.

Step 2: You take (receive) when your partner acknowledges and meets your wishes and needs.

Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2 often.

Here's the great thing about the give-and-take two-step: there will be moments when there is no difference between giving and receiving. If it's meaningful to see your partner happy and content, you will experience the gift of receiving every time you give to your partner. No one loses in this dance!

Unfortunately, many fail to learn to do the give-and-take, and there's another dance that many couples start doing instead.

Enter the power-struggle shuffle

The power-struggle shuffle feeds off a destructive "I'm right, you're wrong" energy. In this dance, your ego fights for top billing and equates the idea of "giving to" your partner with "giving in" or losing.

Senior Parents Living Alone

Whether you are a senior looking to prolong your own independence, or you are a caregiver searching for ways to alleviate your worries about leaving your aged or infirm loved ones home by themselves, a home Emergency

Response System may be just the thing you've been looking for. But with so many systems to choose from and such an important goal at stake, choosing one that fills your needs and fits your budget can be an imposing task.

The following few questions are just a few you should ask about each potential service you encounter to ensure that the one you choose will benefit you in the ways you need it to.

Is the service staffed by trained professionals twenty-four hours a day? Having a real, live person on the other end of the line to contact Emergency Services, inform appropriate caregivers, and stay on the line until help

arrives is extremely important. In times of crisis, you don't want to rely upon a service that uses automated responders or is staffed by people who are under-qualified or poorly trained.

Is the equipment provided to you of quality? It's hard to tell if an electronic device is worth the money you pay for it. One way of ensuring it is defect-free is to look for UL (Underwriters Laboratories) trademark on the device.

This ensures that the device's design has been examined and is of sound construction. Another benefit often overlooked is the portable call buttons such services offer. Is it convenient to use? Some services offer different

styles of button that can be worn as pendants, on watch straps, or on belt clips. Also, be sure to ask if the device is waterproof. The household is full of water hazards (such as toilets, flower pots, and sinks) that may impede

the functioning of any unprotected device.

Does the service guarantee the quality of their products and services? Look for a money-back satisfaction guarantee. Be sure to read the fine print and see how much of a hassle (or how hassle-free) getting your money back

would be if you need to. Also, if there isn't a guarantee, ask yourself why.

Are there any long-term contracts you need to sign? One of the most distasteful things that can happen to a person is being locked into a year or longer contract with a service they don't like or need and facing stiff penalties

if they cancel early. Some services offer monthly payment plans and no-fee cancelation policies. It might be good to look for one that does.

Are payment plans available that fit your budget? Often times, such services only offer one payment option. Some however offer multiple options that can save you money if you let them.

Also, are there any incidentals offered such as free shipping or AARP discounts? Savings could be considerable; watch for them.

The Benefits of Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-factor authentication has been around for a while now, but has been gaining in popularity dramatically in recent years. Multi-factor authentication is the act of utilizing multiple methods of authentication to access specific

data on a network or website.

With so many ways to capture a users password, multi-factor authentication is a way to secure data with more than just a single username and password. If that username and password is compromised, then the attacker will

still need additional information to access the confidential data or website. Multi-factor authentication doesnt necessarily mean just adding on another username and password prompt. It can be a security question or code

request as well. For example, once a user logs in with their username and password, the website also asks them for their mothers maiden name that they entered when originally setting up their account. This additional prompt

can hinder an attackers attempt at accessing their account. Should they already know the username and password, they will also need to know the users mothers maiden name as well.

To add further security to multi-factor authentication, one-time passwords may be added to the mix. A one-time password policy is the technique of using a token or other method that will generate a new password every

minute or so and only the server knows what the password is at the minute. The user then uses the password shown on the token as a second authentication method. After the user uses that password, the password is reset

again and that password is never used again. This is a very secure method that prevents many types of intrusion. If an attacker was able to capture the hash from the authentication transaction, by the time they get done

decrypting it, the password will have changed to a different one.

Another technique to multi-factor authentication is the use of biometrics. Biometrics is the use of some type of scan mechanic on the users body such as a finger print or eye retina. Adding multi-factor authentication where the

second factor of authentication is something specific to that user adds a much deeper level of authentication that is much more secure. Adding a layer of security that is something of "what the user knows", "who the user is",

or "what the user has" makes it hard for someone other than that user to access the data.

Multi-factor authentication is being used by more companies every day. It is especially popular online with websites. Compliance acts are also another reason for its growing usage. Compliances acts such as Sarbanes-Oxley

require financial institutions to utilize some sort of multi-factor authentication when offering online account access to their customers.

Expect multi-factor authentication to become the standard method of authentication in the future. Whether it is just an additional strong password policy, the use of a security question, or biometrics, additional security is a

must when securing data that is confidential.

Unlearn Fear of Public Speaking

For some people the thought of delivering a speech in front of a crowd of people is more frightening than the fear of death itself. Unfortunately, this fear can be incompatible with certain professional paths.

Psychological research has shown that insecurity feelings derive in large part from anxieties about whether one will be liked, accepted, and respected by one's peers and significant others. Sometimes people are aware of these concerns, but often social insecurities of this type influence people's thoughts and feelings "automatically", without a lot of deliberate thought and sometimes even entirely outside of their awareness. All they experience are negative reactions to the self or to social situations.

People with fewer insecurities seem to have a range of automatic thought processes that make them confident and buffer them from worrying about the possibility of social rejection. Fortunately, recent research shows that with enough practice, even people with low self-esteem can develop these beneficial thought processes that might allow them to gradually become more secure and self-confident and less prone to social anxieties such as fear of public speaking.

Mind Habits, a video game designed to help train people to change their perception of social threats and boost their self-confidence has now also been shown to reduce the production of the stress hormone cortisol. Through repetitive playing, the game trains the mind to orient more toward positive aspects of social life, reducing the impact of related stress and leaving people more free to deal with their real stresses in a more relaxed state of mind.

"Many kinds of performancewhether intellectual, creative, or athleticcan be undermined by distracting thoughts about potential social evaluation and criticism," said Dr. Baldwin, whose team created the video games that are marketed by his company Mind Habits, "Among golfers, for example, it is understood that when you hit a bad shot, you have to shrug it off and shift your focus to the next shot. You cant get caught up in self-criticisms and in worries about what other people might think."

In a recent study at McGill University, Mind Habits recruited 23 employees of a telemarketing call centre to play one of their games, which involves clicking on the one smiling face among many frowning faces on a screen as quickly as possible. The new findings appear in the October issue of the American Psychological Association's Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

The call-centre employees did this each workday morning for a week. They filled out daily stress and self-esteem questionnaires and had their cortisol levels tested through saliva analysis on the final day of the experiment. These tests showed an average 17 percent reduction in cortisol production compared to a control group that played a similar game but without the smiling faces. Since cortisol is associated with heart-related conditions, there could be immediate health benefits to go along with the emotional well-being from reduced stress.
